ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY (Text Only)

FreeWheel is hiring a Beijing based Manager/Senior Manager, Engineering Operations, reporting to the Senior Director of Business Operations.
 
As part of the “Bus Ops” team, this person will be responsible for building, enforcing, and maintaining the processes and tools needed to effectively develop our software, with a focus on predictability and quality.  This role will partner with existing teams to ensure adherence to process, policy and reporting within the Engineering team, with an eye towards effective interaction with other key teams in the software development supply chain (System Operations, Product Management, Support & Services, Product Marketing). 
 
This high achieving person will provide analysis, recommendations and drive change related to improving our software development and testing processes and technologies.  The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker and executor with a strong understanding of various development and testing methodologies.

ABOUT YOU (Text Only)

- 5-8 years of professional experience
- Prior experience in software operations, development operations, agile lead, engineering management required
- Prior experience working with B2B software and/or SaaS technology required
- Prior software Engineering, Development, or Quality Assurance experience strongly preferred
- BS in Engineering (IOE/Mechanical/Electrical), Computer Science or Information Systems
- MBA strongly preferred
- Expertise in software methodologies including but not limited to: Agile, Waterfall, V-Model, Feature & Test Driven Development, Iterative, Rapid Development, Spiral, and many more
- Expertise in development technologies including but not limited to: Atlassian suite (confluence, JIRA), development repository tools (SVN, Github, Fisheye, Crucible), deployment tools (Jenkins, Maven, Custom Scripting, etc…)
- Experience managing team transitions to new development methodologies and/or development tools
- Experiencing working with both multi-location and co-location software development teams
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent business and technical judgment
- Microsoft office skills – Excel, PowerPoint, Visio
- Language proficiency in Mandarin required
- Language proficiency in English required
- Significant International travel required (25-50%)

RESPONSIBILITIES (Text Only)

Software Development Process & Technology Ownership
- Understands Company’s strategic direction and ensures software development process is built to align with strategic and operational goals
- Maintains communication with Department leaders, Engineering Management, Development & QA Leads to ensure successful adherence to, and continuous improvement of, software development process and technology
- Applies and adapts software methodology best practices to address needs of complex multi-geo teams
- Effectively trains development teams on software development process
- Addresses problems through risk management and contingency planning
- Presents solutions with options to management; Ensures effective implementation of solutions/changes
Development Reporting, Forecasting, and Performance Analysis
- Leads analysis of company-wide development reporting (release burn-down, capacity forecasting, issue trends, non-development escalations)
- Effectively presents findings and recommendations to senior leadership teams
- Partners with Product Operations to ensure all key metrics are performing as expected to indicate health of software development supply chain (input through deployed and installed software); Diagnoses and develops improvement recommendations when issues occur
